Forest Hill Village earns its name. The
Village has maintained the feel of a small town, despite the changes in
the neighbourhood. Throughout the day, the streets are busy with
residents patronizing the variety of boutiques, attending yoga and
exercise classes, and dining out for lunch. Hope Street Café is a
central hub of the Village – a place where people from the
neighbourhood and across the city come to catch up and enjoy a
home-cooked meal from Hope Street’s diverse menu. Owner Matthew Schein
works hard to maintain a comfortable atmosphere where guests can relax
and enjoy the company of friends.
Hope Street serves breakfast, lunch and brunch items daily until
4p.m. To celebrate five years in the neighbourhood, Matthew is offering
five dollar “classic” breakfast until 11a.m., Monday-Friday.
Weekend brunches are particularly popular, featuring Hope’s famous
Eggs Benedict (served three ways) “create your own” omelettes and
grilled cheese, and a wide variety of entrée-salads.!
In the evening, the cozy fireplace and candlelight set an inviting
tone for guests unwinding over a leisurely meal and a glass of wine.
Dinner at Hope Street, served daily from 4p.m., features fresh seafood,
steaks and the restaurant’s trademark baby back ribs. Hope Street Cafe
is licensed and serves premium wines, beers and spirits.
In the warmer months Hope’s street-side patio is a place for diners
to enjoy some sun over lunch, stop off after work for food and drink,
or to meet friends and linger over dinner on a long summer’s evening.
Matthew Schein recently opened The South Side Restaurant and Bar,
directly across from Hope Street ar 419 Spadina Road. The South Side
serves lunch and dinner Tuesday – Sunday. The bar is open and serves
light snacks until 1.a.m., and features 9 local beers on draught. Only
a few months old, the South Side is already well known for its lobster
martinis. Stop by Wednesday nights for half-priced cocktails.
